Coaching, Tools And Support

For an affiliate marketing merchant, it is fair to say that success or otherwise hinges to an enormous extent upon the volume of traffic your affiliates manage to entice to your website and the subsequent sales you may achieve. Affiliate marketing programs have invariably been (and will carry on being) one of the most effective ways to produce traffic, accomplish better market share and so boost profits, but they must be used correctly. The primary requirement is a good understanding of just what motivates someone to become an affiliate marketer because, with this knowledge, you are going to be much better placed to make available a captivating package of coaching, tools and support. Done properly, this will quickly put your site at the cutting edge of whichever market you’re targeting.

It ought to be remembered that your affiliates will characterize your business’s presence online. To hire an affiliate who will not present your organization and its merchandise in the very best light possible is akin to throwing money away. A bad affiliate is actually not likely to affect your financial well-being, nor be a strain upon any essential resources, simply because they only earn money from the things they sell. Nevertheless, you could lose out on some important revenue streams by possibly not incorporating a few tried and tested techniques that could result in the merchant/affiliate relationship being a lot more mutually profitable.

What Affiliates Want

So what exactly is it that draws the would-be online marketer to becoming an affiliate to begin with? The reasons are numerous and varied but a few of the most immediately apparent are detailed below.

  • The affiliate marketer is answerable to no-one other than themselves and the principal merchant; they are their own personal supervisor and there are no deadlines to meet.
  • They will tend not to need to employ people or, if they do, it would usually be in the form of an outsourcing arrangement with free-lancers.
  • Truth be told there is often no need to lease premises or retain an office. An Internet business may be run effectively whether seated at a PC workstation at home or relaxing with a laptop at the beach.
  • If set up correctly, this form of e-commerce can often be operated with minimum attention for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
  • There is no need to commute. The whole of their business is no further away than their personal computer.
  • A good affiliate program may generate an extremely comfortable income through a quality product backed by high online commissions (over 50%).

These are only some of the good reasons people consider affiliate marketing. Being a merchant, you ought to endeavour to enter into the way of thinking of your affiliates and provide a support package which will both excite them and offer beneficial training, support and assistance. The probability is that you already acknowledge this need. Numerous affiliate merchants have previously trodden the path of the marketer. Should you be one of those, you likely have a good idea of what your affiliates need. The newbie affiliate will quickly find their initial foray into the realm of marketing quite daunting. It is a tough environment to negotiate without having some form of direction, which is why training can be so important.

Personal Characteristics

To become productive, affiliates have to possess certain qualities of character that can help them drive their business forward. Qualities like determination (the drive to never give up even if things appear to be going nowhere); willingness to learn inside an ever-evolving online scene; self-motivation (simply put, not being distracted by domestic or other non-work related pressures); self-discipline (the ability to work within a pre-defined time each day or until the day’s aims have been achieved); a positive attitude (needed to counter any negativity that arises from within themselves and/or from others).

Certainly, as an affiliate merchant, it is definitely not your task to instill these factors in your affiliates but you may help encourage them by adopting an optimistic attitude. By and large, a tiny amount of encouragement can sometimes uncover qualities that lie hidden just below the surface of the would-be marketer. This can be accomplished with a minimum of effort by putting in place a high quality system of training and assistance which will allow them to have the confidence to drive their business, and therefore yours, forward. This is a win-all state of affairs and one which can generate a good income for you as well your affiliate marketers.

The principle emphasis must be on the need for training and encouragement for your affiliates to try and do the most effective job they can to create traffic and market your products to the fullest extent possible. After a little thought and energy you might soon have large numbers of affiliates offering your products right across the World Wide Web for 365 days a year, using synchronised and well-planned campaigns which will leave you and them more than adequately rewarded.

The Advantages Of Affiliate Marketing

Foreword By The Editor

The following article by Radol Crain covers the whys and wherefors of deciding whether you might want to consider full-time affiliate marketing. Leaving the relative security of a regular job might be a frightening prospect for many people and therefore is not a step to be taken lightly. However, if sufficient effort is first put into research, it can be a rewarding experience that can totally turn your life around.

Choicesaffilite marketing

If you are tired of going to a ‘real’ job every day you may be thinking about trying to find a way to make money on the Internet. There are many overnight profit plans out there but a lot of them are run by scammers who want nothing more than to steal your hard earned cash and disappear. However, you should find quite a few real businesses that can help you to make money via the Internet but you need to think about a few things first. For example, certain marketing methods are going to take great effort and, in turn, may not provide you with an income that is worth all your hard work. Others might require a large initial investment and will not offer any guarantee that you’ll ever see that money again. If you want to have a successful business that will carry you for a reasonable period of time, you need to choose your enterprise carefully.

If you are looking for a ‘no-maintenance-needed’ kind of business, affiliate marketing might be just right for you. If you approach it correctly, affiliate marketing can make you a fortune over the long run. There are millions of dollars in online profit available for people who get into affiliate marketing on a full-time basis. Yes, millions; and yes, it can be done. Though you may have thought otherwise, affiliate marketing is as challenging and time-consuming as any other business and requires total commitment from you. You are in charge of how much money you make so you should take this opportunity as seriously as any other job. If you make your fortune, you can call all the business shots and spend the rest of your life vacationing on a tropical island. This is why you have to make sure that the initial start is right in order to see long term results. In this article, we will be discussing what advantages affiliate marketing has and why you should consider taking it up.

Flexibility

The majority of the people who want to have their own online business are attracted by the flexibility that comes with it. Affiliate marketing does away with many of the encumbrances typical with establishing a company and is one of the many reasons people are drawn to it. No actual store is necessary, no facility that you need to rent or maintain. Utility bills or licensing costs are nowhere to be seen. Your schedule is free to change as you want, not as your business commands you to. A computer with online access is the only necessary hardware needed to jump start your career. You won’t have to attend boring meetings or deliver any speeches. What’s more, you’re not even bound to one place if you use a laptop; you have the flexibility to conduct business anywhere you choose. Once you establish your affiliate business, you’ll make money while you sleep, since the Internet never stops working. Of course, if you want to advance to the next level, you’ll need to commit to putting some creativity and effort into your business.

Customer Service

If you do not like dealing with customers then affiliate marketing may be the perfect job for you. You will not encounter any angry customers to deal with if you choose to become an affiliate marketer. The product’s owner takes care of all of the customer service and the only thing that you need to do is provide him with those customers. However, there will be times when your visitors or subscribers ask you about the product you’re promoting. You simply need to give them all the facts you have to help them decide to purchase the product you are promoting. You will be given this information by the vendor. Any other questions or concerns about his product or business operations should be directed to him.

Summary

It’s best to experiment with affiliate marketing in order to properly understand how well it can work for you. Research the numerous products available in the field you want to cover and find one that generates a high level of personal confidence in it for you. There is always a period early on when sales are low or non-existent, and you may well feel the sting of failure. However, if you stay focused and persistent, you will eventually find the success you are looking for.

Get Targeted Traffic With CPA Marketing

Foreword By The Editor

The following article by Stephanie Powers focuses on the very important area of online promotions, with particular reference to CPA advertising. Basically, what this refers to is banner advertising, which is scoffed at by so many in the field nowadays (particularly those who are hyping competing products.). This has led to its undeserved bad reputation as an advertising method that “doesn’t work”. This is nonsense, of course. Banner ads are simply space rented on someone else’s website where you can advertise your wares. It’s where that space is and how you use it that determines whether or not it’s going to work. Banner ads are not just a ‘trend’ and, like their ‘real world’ counterparts, they will never completely lose their effectiveness.

CPA Marketing

Examples of standard web advert sizes, from th...

Cost Per Action (CPA), or Pay Per Action, as it is sometimes known, and other forms of affiliate marketing can be a tough learning curve, but there is one method of promoting merchandise or services that is about as close as you can come to ‘copy and paste’. Does that sound too good to be true? It almost is, but it’s completely legitimate, and experienced marketers have been making fortunes with it for years. What is this mystery technique? It’s known as ‘media buying’, or more specifically in this case, online media buying.

Media Buys

This term is not new. For many years now, it has described the process of buying advertising from traditional print magazines, newspapers, radio and television. These are still viable advertising media. Usually, it is bought in bulk and then ‘brokered’ very inexpensively to individual buyers. The Internet is new in this type of advertising market and offers opportunities for marketers who do not have the deep pockets often required for advertising elsewhere.

Essentially, media buys involve buying banner advertising space on websites, with the cost depending on the website’s prominence and traffic, the size of the advertising campaign, the times at which the banners are to be displayed, and other such criteria. Payment for these ad campaigns is generally calculated on the basis of cost per thousand impressions (CPM), which means that, unlike Pay-Per-Click (PPC), where you pay each time your ad gets clicked, with CPM you pay a set rate each time a visitor actually views your ad.

Cheap Clicks

The ad rates are sometimes such that advertisers can end up getting very cheap clicks. Formerly, they had to pay advertising agencies to do all the design work for their campaigns. However, many companies with affiliate programs are now providing their affiliates with pre-made banner ads in various different standard sizes for free, either directly or through their affiliate network.

For the affiliate, in order to start promoting affiliate and CPA offers with banners, all they need to do is to cut and paste a snippet of code. Cut and paste, it’s that simple. No need to wrack their brains to come up with ad copy, spend hours trying to write code etc. It is all done for them.

Summary

Just like any other type of promotional offer, there are ‘tricks of the trade’ that can help increase the chances of success. While you can simply jump in and hope for the best, you are far better off learning from a professional who has already tested and tweaked techniques for maximum profits. By clicking a link in the next paragraphyou will be taken to a course that will show you the ins and outs of media buys and allow you to hit the ground running with confidence.

Publish An Ezine

Put out a free ezine. You will be able to utilize it to promote your chosen affiliate programs. Better still, put an opt-in form on your website and require visitors to submit their email address to subscribe. Make sure that you also submit your ezine to directories.

Directories

You can develop a directory specifically for affiliate programs. The best strategy is to become a member of an affiliate network. Thereafter, you can choose several affiliate programs to place in your directory. Once you have done this, advertise your free directory for affiliate programs. Search engines have a high amount of trust for directories.

Chat Rooms

Get involved in chat room discussions which pertain to the products or services that you are promoting. Strike up a dialog without attempting to sell and, after a while, you can then mention your product.

Reviews

Write a review on the products you are promoting. Choose about four products, and rate them from one to five. List the pros and cons of each product and give your ultimate approval for the number one product. Explain why you have chosen this product.

Write An Ebook

Author a free ebook which has content appropriate for your niche. Of course, you will want to include links and references to your website throughout this ebook. Make sure that the reader has to visit your website to learn key bits of information which you left out of the ebook.

Advertising

Develop you own unique ads for the affiliate programs you are promoting. This is how you will stand out from others who are promoting the same programs.

Marketing

Promote your affiliate products with article marketing. Write on a topic relevant to your niche, and include a link to the product in the author resource box of the article. Make sure that you give your readers a compelling reason to visit your website by writing a compelling article. Keep your author resource box relatively short. Less than five lines is best.

Offers

Join an offer exchange. Find people who are promoting products which complement those of your affiliate programs. This is an opportunity to trade banner space on each others’ websites.

Forums

Get involved in forums. Providing answers to some of the questions posed will boost your reputation. This will lead to you becoming an expert, at least in the forum. Make sure that you include a link to your website in the signature of your posts.

Open A Membership Site

Develop a member’s-only website or niche social network. Allow people to join for free as a bonus for purchasing the product which you are promoting. Conversely, you can allow anyone to join for free, and utilize this website or network to promote your affiliate programs to its members.

Making Money With ClickBank

Foreword By The Editor

This article by Graham McKenzie outlines both of the methods there are to make money with ClickBank and compares the two for the benefit of people who are new to this field. If you enjoy it and it inspires you to try ClickBank marketing yourself, be sure to click the links in the last paragraph headed About The Author.

Using ClickBank

Coins and banknotes, two of the most common ph...
Image via Wikipedia

ClickBank is an online digital product retailer and offers a double opportunity for you to build a secondary source of income. With hardly any costs involved either in promoting or through the burden of employees and allied expenses, ClickBank is a pure profit proposition for your home business. It is one of the better tools available for use in helping to produce income to expand your business.

There are two ways to make money out of Clickbank. You can either sell products produced by other people or you can produce your own digital products and get others to sell them for you.

ClickBank Affiliates

The first method (i.e. becoming a ClickBank affiliate) is the most common way of earning money with Clickbank. There are several things to consider. First, Clickbank accepts almost any product, regardless of how mediocre it may be or how poorly its sales page is designed. You need to check out the ‘gravity’ of each product to make sure it sells, as well as its sales page to be sure of decent conversions.

First of all be certain that there arent too many products in the area that you will be selling. Once this is done, all you need to do is select a product that is in a class that pleases you and gives you confidence that you will be able to sell it effectively. For example, if you decide to try and market an ebook on “how to make money on the Internet” or “how to train your dog”, you will not find it easy since there are too many people who have been in this field for a long time and they will certainly have an enormous head start over you. However there are a lot of relatively new and more precise areas of possibility that don’t have nearly as much competition and which are available to you.

Create a website or blog for the product(s) or niche and use article marketing, PPC, and video marketing to catapult your online business to success, all without ever creating an actual, unique product.

ClickBank Merchants

Merchants make money on ClickBank by creating their own product (e.g. a ‘how-to’ guide on some popular topic), placing it in a captivating website, and listing it in Clickbank’s marketplace. If they offer a good enough incentive commission (say 50%), they can then sit back and let affiliates take over the promotion side of things.  They passively receive the rest of the income in the mail.

Generating personal products is especially beneficial when you are in a position to sell the product through partners and gain total profits from their efforts. The only disadvantage is that it takes time to create it and it’s also subject to being rejected by associates for superior products.

Pros And Cons

Being a partner is flexible since you can put on the market products that you are not so familiar with or skilled in and then change products if you realize that the area you are in is not making money for you. Being a merchant requires a lot more initial work but is rewarding once you have come up with a positive product for which there is sufficient demand.

You have the choice of doing either or both methods. Either way you stand to make good profits.

Overlooked Traffic

Reaching Aggressive Goals without Monetary Inc...

There is a very efficient, yet often overlooked method of generating inexpensive website traffic and boosting sales online. It is by using affiliate marketing and joint ventures. In a lot of cases it is sometimes better to concentrate on those things that some people often overlook because it can mean taking our share of a lot more free traffic.

Affiliate Programs

Affiliate marketing is relatively easy to understand. We have the option to sell someone else’s service or products and receive a piece of the action or we can ask others to sell our own products and offer them a similar deal. The second option, of course, uses one of the best business practices around: the practice of using ‘leverage’.

The Benefits

Now what are the benefits of affiliate programs and why do they generate cheap website traffic? First of all, if you use the pay-per-sale model of bonuses, you do not spend any money for advertising and traffic generation until the actual sale takes place. You sell first and you pay later. This way you do not have to set up an advertising budget and can start your business at a very low cost (just for setting up your affiliate programs).

Another great advantage of affiliate programs is that we know that our partners will send good qualified traffic to our site. They will be motivated to give us good quality traffic just as much as we want to receive it. This will result in heaps more traffic and more possible sales.

Joint Ventures

The other great thing about affiliate programs is that it allows us to form joint-ventures with lots of other people. This increases our leverage once again, we should try to create as many of these alliances as we possibly can. It will increase our website traffic yet again, and still is a very low cost exercise.

Joint ventures can help you to easily build up valid and high quality links to your web site and consequently attain higher positions in search engine ranking, which in turn is another great source of targeted and cheap website traffic. As you see, affiliate programs can be a good source of cheap website traffic, even though they have been a bit forgotten in the whirlwind of  modern SEO techniques.
