What We Are About
101 Internet Answers is crammed with tools and
services that are likely to be of use to anyone who wants to
use the Internet in a practical way—particularly those needing
to advance their small business presence online. So whether you
are an Internet developer, a website designer, a first 'home
page' builder or you are in need of email solutions, 101 Internet
Answers is for you.
How Things Are Organized
Despite the name, 101 Internet Answers doesn't
answer questions about the Internet per se. That would make it
a mere collection of FAQs. The answers on offer mostly take the
form of software solutions, online services, or pointers towards
sites where the subject in question is covered in depth. It has
been organized to help everyone find the resources and tools
they need without getting bogged down in 'tech-talk'. This way,
it should be as useful to Internet 'newbies' as to 'knowbies'.
All resources are categorized and initially
displayed in the form of 'thumbnail' descriptions, i.e. short
outlines consisting of no more than 200 characters. Each of these
links to a web page where a fuller description can be found,
and that may be on this site or on some other website. In other
words, 101 Internet Answers is a 'portal', with links all over
the web, as well as to pages within the site itself. (This, incidentally,
is in line with the original vision of the inventor of the World
Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee. To learn more about his view of the
future, and how the WWW was conceived, read The Way The World Wide Web
Works.)
Browsing
To actually explore the site, use the right
margin menu. It is divided into self explanatory categories and
subcategories and, in some instances, further subdivided again.
Searching
If you know what you are looking for, the easiest
way to find it is by a keyword search using one or more of the
three options below. The first is for searching this site to
find any matches to your requirements in our categorized directory
of resources. The second is recommended if the results don't
provide the answer you need or if you need wider coverage from
the outset. It uses SearchFeast (on a separate page) to
search the CBmall, a huge collection of resources that includes
many of the greatest ebooks, software and infoproducts available
on the Net. The third is for finding things anywhere on
the World Wide Web.
Using these three methods in the sequence
suggested will generally produce far better results than any
single search engine would.
Use the text entry box below to search among all categories
for specific words. The result
will be displayed as a list of 'thumbnails' (in other words,
brief outlines) that contain one or more of the key words you
entered.
SearchFeast Searching
Use the text entry field on the SearchFeast page
that should have opened in a separate window (usually underneath
this one). Once again, the search result is displayed as a list
of resources that contain one or more of the key words you entered.
If you can't find the SearchFeast page, go to the Task Bar at
the bottom of your screen (if you're using Windows) or click
here.
